East Village / Manhattan in the 1609

I live in the East Village which in 1609 was inhabited by tribes of the Algonquian family. In 1609, Henry Hudson sailed up what is now known as the Hudson River and arrived at the island of Manhattan. In 1624, the Dutch West India Company sent the first settlers to Manhattan. The following year, the governor of the Dutch settlement, Peter Minuit, bought the island from the Indians for $24 worth of trinkets.
